What’s the difference between “active” affiliates and approved partners?

When an affiliate signs up for your program, two statuses are involved:

1. Account Status

This is the general status of the affiliate’s account. Once someone signs up and completes the onboarding flow, their account is marked as active. This simply means they can log in to the dashboard and view their own stats.

2. Partnership Status

This determines whether the affiliate is actually approved to promote your product and earn commissions.

  • If your program is set to Public, new affiliates are automatically approved after onboarding. They immediately get access to their unique affiliate link and can start promoting.

  • If your program is set to Private, affiliates can still go through the signup and onboarding process. However, after onboarding they will see a message that their application is pending. They won’t get access to an affiliate link or be able to earn commissions until you manually approve them. Once approved, they’ll be notified and can start promoting.
