Currently, the "Variable Commission Over Time" feature increases/decreases commission rates based on how much time has passed since a customer was referred.
This works well in many cases, but it doesn't fully support use cases where affiliates should be rewarded based on actual retention.
Weβd like to suggest an alternative model where commission rates are based on the number of successful payments made by a referred customer (e.g. after 3 paid months, increase the rate). This would better reflect real engagement and long-term value, especially for monthly subscriptions.
Why it matters:
Time-based incentives can be misleading in cases where a customer churns early and comes back much later. Payment-based tiers would allow for more precise incentives tied to true customer retention.
Example:
10% for the first 3 payments
20% after 3 successful payments
This model would reward affiliates for driving subscribers who actually stick around, instead of simply waiting for time to pass.
